Incl. Roska - "Asbestos".
/ 'Shoulda Rolla' is the product of an almighty collaboration between Tectonic head honcho Pinch and Rinse FM's very own tribal roller, Roska. Returning to the studio together as a follow up session to 2010's 'Paranormal Activity' (as featured on TEC048) the pair have come up with something that sounds both familiar and fresh in equal measures - revitalising many ghosts of grime and dubstep past with brain bending atmospherics, precision drum programming and a full enaging tribal momentum. Flip then for the deadly 'Asbestos' which continues in the vibe of Roska's recent Tectonic output, 'Blurry', 'Spearhead' and '480 BC'. Taking on his 140bpm stance, Roska flips the dubstep / half-step script on its head - instead opting for rapid, meticulous drum programming and charging pace. Packed with enough sub bass weight to shake a sound system to pieces and a demented mid range sound that emulates a enraged robotic elephant, 'Asbestos' is one for the deeper heads who like to move their feet. | | schließen |

Incl. "Oshun" (Beneath Remix).
/ Following on from his long awaited album KU:PALM in November of last year, we now see its lead track Pyramid get a vinyl release on Photek’s own label, Photek Productions. The eastern instrumentation and spacey beats may not be apt for every dance floor, but for fans of Modus Operandi era Photek, Pyramid is an essential tune.On the flip we have Oshun, another track from KU:PALM this time remixed by Beneath, a producer that began making waves last year with a series of 12”s on his own label, No Symbols and a cracking mix for Fact Mag. He has gone on to release the Illusions EP on Dusk & Blackdown’s Keysound Recordings, as well as a 12” on Pinch’s influential Tectonic Recordings. Mixing the darkest elements of funky, dub and syncopated grime with a distinctly UK edge, Beneath’s complex layered beats result in a truly unique sound that is a perfect matched to remix fellow experimentalist Photek. A young producer that clearly knows his shit, Beneath is a breath of fresh air. | | schließen |

/ Following the Annie Mac approved Summer 2012 smash Through The Night, Drumsound & Bassline Smith are back with their dancefloor filling new single One In A Million featuring the sensuous vocals of Fleur. After a sensational 2012 ride that highlighted with two UK top 40 singles in What Can You Do For Me, a collaboration with Utah Saints and their own Radio 1 A-list track Through The Night; a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix; main support on the DJ Fresh Nextlevelism UK Tour; gigs around the world including UKF’s sold out Brixton O2 Academy New Year’s Eve party; remixing Jeff Wayne’s classic War Of The Worlds; plus presenting a Daily Dose show for BBC 1Xtra, a monthly feature on 1Xtra for MistaJam, the foundations for 2013 and One In A Million look rock solid.Hot new 22-year-old talent, Fleur, is fresh off vocal duties on DJ Fresh’s recent Nextlevelism tour, where she was introduced to DJ Fresh’s main support act, Drumsound & Bassline Smith. It was only a matter of time before the sparks flew and with such common musical tastes, it was the perfect match for the collaboration on One In A Million.Soaring 80’s synths and Fleur’s infectiously catchy vocals fire One In A Million straight into dnb anthem orbit. On One In A Million Drumsound & Bassline Smith show off where their strengths truly lie, making great music that appeals to the masses.Remixes come from Tantrum Desire who give the original an edgier take , & Northern Lights serve up a bass-laden dubstep remixIncludes support from: Annie Mac, Friction, MistaJam, Nihal, Bare Noize, Ed Solo, Nick Thayer (OWSLA), Subscape, Utah Saints... | | schließen |

/ After the humbling amount of love and positivity shown for our first release (BG001-’Detonate’ by Dismantle, featured on Annie Mac’s “Class of 2012″ compilation and it’s b-side ’2 in 1′ to be featured on Joker’s forthcoming Rinse compilation), Black Gold are thrilled and very excited to announce their second release: ”The Zone” by Kutz. An atmospheric, genre busting monster which is not your standard 140 bpm number. “The Zone” combines dancefloor sensibilities of whipped drum beats and heavy bass with the soundscapes of a John Carpenter movie. A natural progression in the evolution and development of Bass music, “The Zone” brilliantly fuses the power of raw cinematic grooves with the sophistication and lushness of a film score to devastating effect, making it both contemporary yet timeless. On the AA side are two totally different tracks that still fit the Black Gold ethos of powerful bass driven electronica/dance music”Rodeo” has a rocking groove that is D-I-R-T-Y and is just begging for hot summer nights and heaving dancefloors. The hooks just dig in and take you with them on a bucking bronco ride that will leave you battered and bruised and wanting more…..4 minutes just isn’t long enough!Bringing you down with a more minimalist bump, the last track is “Krystal Visions”. Bootlegged to much acclaim (as ever) by Skream last year, this is a fine piece of sparse techno, full of glitchy metallic stabs that home in on your aural receptors, ready for battle. However understated atmospherics like echoes from “The Zone” soften the blows, making this a really wonderful piece of spartan techno. | | schließen |

Incl. "Tangent" (Geode Remix).
/ Andrew Tweedale and James Evans are Amoss, and, together with Horizons Music, invite you to take a trip inside the universe of Tangent.
Tangent is the latest in a succession of high quality releases, coming as it does after sessions for Dispatch, Renegade Hardware and now, Horizons. As with the rest of their output, Tangent, which is backed with the Geode remix, shows off their technical abilities and their unifying desire to move the crowd. Their mutual love of music, and early experience in a range of bands, has transmogrified into a searing, urgent awareness of what is funky and groovy in d&b.; Tangent, in the two forms on show here, will only increase their visibility and star status within the scene.
The original version is classic Amoss. Building slowly and deliberately, the anticipation increases with every second. You’re still on edge as the track rolls along, with melody intertwining with some smooth percussion, after the drop. The beat moves in later on, with some 80s–style synth work going on. Amoss prove that they are not just the angry young men of their techstep output, with some soul breaking through the multiple samples which will make Tangent one for the thinkers out there.
Geode flips the script with a remix which offers a glitch, glimmering take on the track. Again working up slowly, Geode adds in clicks, ticks and a stuttering, skittering drum beat. The effect is different, but the dreamlike, almost filmic nature of the original is maintained. A really different spin on Tangent is captured through the remix, as it weaves and twists between your ears.
Amoss present a varied, unique approach to music, and always have a fresh, undaunted sound to their tracks. Tangent is the best example yet of this young duo’s work and with Horizons representing all that is exciting about bass music in 2013, you better get yourselves on this Tangent now. | | schließen |

/ On the eve of our 3rd anniversary Area Recordings comes full circle with a new release from founder Be-1ne. Following on in the tradition of his past work he brings two exciting and original tracks. Steering clear of repetition and pushing the thought and approach to 140 bass music, this is sure to be one of the standout releases of 2013.Side A “Disrepresentation” opens with dense atmospherics and spares drum hits. The percussion offers a moody swing drawing in the opening melodic flute line before kicking down the sways of melancholy with pulsing bass stabs reminiscent of dubsteps hey day. The track builds and evolves throughout making it’s self clearly known on the dance floor with its appeal to lurkers and skankers alike.Side B “Data Touch” offers an altogether different approach. Taking stuttering percussion and moody sub throughout its opening bars to a cymbal crashing and bass pulsating drop. This is a truly chest rattling tune guaranteed to shake the foundation of any system. With an infectious melody line and eyes down vibe this will be a mainstay in any forward thinking DJ’s record bag. | | schließen |

(LTD. PICTURE 12" / RSD Release) - in support of Record Store Day 2013 Kraak & Smaak are laying claim to 2013 as their year with the incredible hype generated by The Future Is Yours - the debut single from the fourth studio album due later in 2013. The single which has Ben Westbeech on vocals has hit Number 1 in the DMC Buzz Chart / Tune of The Month in Mixmag / DMC Single of The Week and has been getting support from key tastemakers from London to Amsterdam to LA. Remixes on the vinyl come courtesy of Londoners Futurizm who put the bass in the place with a slo mo version that has been getting DJ's twitchy and XLR8R fave Ambassadeurs delivers a leftfield bass twister that shows why he is one of the most hotly tipped producers of 2013. Kraak & Smaak are staunch supporters of Record Store Day being involved in the record shop business themselves and as prolific vinyl collectors.
