Incl. "Regrets" (feat. Malaky).
/ Command – to exhibit power over, to control. Strange – different, unusual, unique. Showing power over the unusual and different is what Command Strange is all about. Dive in, the water’s fine.
Kazakhstan’s Command Strange has been turning the music world on to his rather special world view since he was 16. * After tracks on Have-A-Break and Fokuz, he has gone on to rack up over 150 releases. Specialising in rolling, epic soundscapes, he offers a serious, musical take on things drum and things bass.
After a mammoth 2012, with releases on Metalheadz Platinum, 2013 looks set to be even bigger. Now he is moving onwards with a new release on Horizons, Hyperbug/Regrets (with Malaky). The twin set of tunes show off what Command is all about – vibes, vibes and more vibes.
Hyperbug starts off with a sawing intro, with the metallic bass continuing into the main section, which is highlighted by shimmering electronics and a jumping, pumping beat. The drums kick and kick again, with the tempo revealed after two drops. Things build and build with his one, moving into more and more funky sections, peeling away until the dark heart of the track is revealed. Up there with the finest in the genre, Hyperbug will soon become a signature sound in any DJs set. Strange, but very commanding throughout.
The flip is Regrets, in conjunction with Malaky. Smoothness is the name of the game as things kick off with a sweet vocal snatch, before proceedings dip down with some trademark samples and stretches. Piano plays plaintively in the background, reminiscent of Lenzman and Artificial Intelligence, with the bass moving elegantly through the tune. Contemplative and emotional but still urgent, Regrets will move dancefloors as well as hearts and minds.
Command Strange will provide the soundtrack to your 2013, so get on the train early with Hyperbug/Regrets. | | schließen |

Incl. Submorphics - "Summer Soul".
/ Part 1 of the Sounds Of The Innerground album comes to life here with two summer rollers from two acts who have not only DnB, but also Innerground DNA coursing through their systems.
Featuring as part of the forthcoming FABRICLIVE compilation, the ASide houses DnB king, Calibre’s remix of DJ Marky & S.P.Y.’s 2012 smash, Yellow Shoes. The track has a simple, yet charismatic sound that is altogether Calibre with clever use of the samples to make something new, but still true to the original.
USA’s Submorphics wraps things up on the BSide with “Summer Soul”, a track that is on heavy rotation in DJ Marky’s record box at the moment. This aptly named track is one that forces you to reminisce about all those hazy, glory days of summer. Simple floaty male vocals, big sub bass and tight percussion make it perfect for the club, car, home or headphones. | | schließen |

Incl. "Don’t Look Now".
/ Without doubt the heaviest Sgn:Ltd release that we can remember, Optiv & CZA deliver the goods for number 32 in the series with two downright outrageous cuts of primetime drum & bass made to make your mouth water. A huge double-header that’ll be unleashed at Shogun nights across the land, designed to test your sound systems to the max.
‘Bring It Back’ as the name suggests is all about looking back to take things forward in 2013. Based around everyone’s favourite hardcore stab you’ll need a stiff drink before you dare step to this and step you will! Militant drums, heavy under- -pinning bass and that aforementioned mid-range old-skool riff combine perfectly on this proper dance floor assault on the senses. Get on it!
They say if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it and that’s exactly the ethos Optiv & CZA have opted for here as they stay very much in the same vein for ‘Don’t Look Now’, a riotous tech-stepping affair full of bongo led breaks and the panic room stabs again that take us back to those good old vintage Renegade Hardware vibes. Absolutely slammin’! | | schließen |

/ Technicolour and Komatic have officially tied the production duo knot and become Technimatic. A name that if you are not familiar with already, you soon will be. Spearhead Records are very pleased to have secured their debut EP ‘Mirror Image’.
Title track ‘Mirror Image’ builds up with the kind of soft vocal echos and warm pads that you have come to expect from this duo, then just when you thought it was safe, it goes off like a stick of dynamite. This one is bassline heavy!
‘The Unspoken’ draws on some deep and haunting vocal sampling that will blow you away.
‘Not Far To Go’ just about sums up the level of production that this duo have already reached. This is a real display of how to make musical drum ‘n’ bass that still shakes the speakers.
Rounding off the package is the garage influenced ‘Sheltered Storm’, vocal chops and steppy beats all the way.
DJ support for these tracks, and other recent productions has come from Friction, Matrix & Futurebound, London Elektricity, Netsky, Kenny Ken, Nu:Tone, Crissy Criss, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and many more. | | schließen |

Incl. "Grizzly".
/ Nu:Logic is the collaborative alias of brothers Nu:Tone and Logistics, here joining forces in the studio for the first time since 2010’s “New Technique EP”. Expect soothing, cerebral D+B of the highest calibre here coupled with a fiercely unique approach that will have you clamoring for more.
Opener “Morning Rain” starts the 12” with a flurry of twittering birds and murmuring atmospherics. Calm and mellow from start to finish, this blissed out track pairs pattering drums with cooing vocals for maximum effect, whilst guitar strumming and sub-heavy upright bass add weight and depth.
Over on the flipside we have the not-so-cuddly “Grizzly” which switches up the tempo and goes for the jugular with superb trigger-clicking, bass-ridden stabbing beats. The trippy tinkling intro drops swiftly into a raw and rugged affair and continues to menace right til it’s all over.
Fans of Nu:Logic can also look forward to the outfit’s debut album which is dropping in Spring 2013. Stay tuned for more info... | | schließen |

Rene LaVice Insidious (LP) Ram Records

So the dictionary tells us, but if the word insidious bears any relati more...Artikelbeschreibung:
So the dictionary tells us, but if the word insidious bears any relation to Rene LaVice’s rise to drum & bass prominence it’s that it is the exact opposite. Smashing his way to the top of the game within a year with nothing but a hugely positive effect, Rene LaVice is poised to unleash his debut album on Ram Records following just a handful of releases. It would be foolish to think that Rene LaVice and his music weren’t ready for such a bold step, though. Last year saw his tunes find a home on the playlists of tastemakers such as Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw and MistaJam, become highlights in the sets of Ram boss Andy C amongst many of his D&B; peers, top the sales charts amidst fierce competition from all manner of bass music and storm into Mixmag’s top 50 tracks of the year.
How exactly, you may ask, has a relatively new artist from Canada managed to achieve all of this in 2012? Your first listen to his debut album ‘Insidious’ will undoubtedly answer that.
From the opening bars of ‘So Inspired To Fail’ to the closing notes of ‘Absolute Monster’ this LP is really a lesson in creating beautifully crafted drum & bass. ‘Perfect World’ and ‘This Is Conflict’ are prime examples of Rene’s ability to put together tracks that will undoubtedly smash dancefloors.
Throughout ‘Insidious’ has nothing but breezy production and genuine soul to offer the listener. ‘The Way You Love Me’ draws you in with subtle vocal hooks and chest-warming Reeses, ‘Rude Selection’ sees Rene drop the tempo and team up with Trinity Chris for a crunching, grinding slice of hip hop heavy bass music, while the album’s title track is a dizzying blend of sultry vocals and Prototype Years style drum & bass.
Drawing together classic sounds and giving them a fresh lease of life is Rene LaVice’s mainstay, crafting drum & bass that manages to feel nostalgic, infused with timeless, classic intent, but always up to date with fresh production values. Rene LaVice is a producer who wears his influences on his musical sleeve and always brings them together in a new and exciting way, and his debut album is a testament to that incredible talent. | | schließen |
