Incl. "Backlash" (Digital & Spirit Rework).
/ Nearly 10 years on from it’s last release, Phantom Audio relaunches on March 11th 2013 and what better way to start than to go back to the very beginning! Originally released on Dec 6th 1999, Phantom Force went on to become one of the legendary dnb anthems, still being heard in sets today. Fracture tears it apart and takes it right into 2013 with a mammoth half-stepping groove, led by those familiar pounding stabs, nervous strings and teasing break edits. Digital & Spirit go to work on Backlash themselves, harking back to an era where the beats where dirty and the mood was heavy for a trademark slice of sub-heavy organised breakbeat chaos. Available on highly limited vinyl. | | schließen |

/ Technicolour and Komatic have officially tied the production duo knot and become Technimatic. A name that if you are not familiar with already, you soon will be. Spearhead Records are very pleased to have secured their debut EP ‘Mirror Image’.
Title track ‘Mirror Image’ builds up with the kind of soft vocal echos and warm pads that you have come to expect from this duo, then just when you thought it was safe, it goes off like a stick of dynamite. This one is bassline heavy!
‘The Unspoken’ draws on some deep and haunting vocal sampling that will blow you away.
‘Not Far To Go’ just about sums up the level of production that this duo have already reached. This is a real display of how to make musical drum ‘n’ bass that still shakes the speakers.
Rounding off the package is the garage influenced ‘Sheltered Storm’, vocal chops and steppy beats all the way.
DJ support for these tracks, and other recent productions has come from Friction, Matrix & Futurebound, London Elektricity, Netsky, Kenny Ken, Nu:Tone, Crissy Criss, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and many more. | | schließen |

/ Emerging last year as Austria’s latest drum & bass talent to take the world by storm, Martin Mefjus as been on a serious roll with his music featuring heavily in the sets of the scenes biggest players. Never ones to rest on their laurels Critical were listening and snapped him up all for themselves as the latest to join the Critical roster alongside Enei, Foreign Concept, Xtrah and Emperor. Now as he readies his debut solo release on the label, Mefjus looks set to take things up a gear. ‘Signalz’ has been damaging dance floors at Critical events across the land these past few months and now it’s time to get up close and personal with this utterly disgusting beast of a tune and see what the fuss is about. The build up is all epic pads and smattering percussion but it’s the main event with its colossal bass drone and frenetic drums that’s gonna grab you and never let go until the next tune drops in. Watch for the sick edits and switches to keep you on your toes. Truly big, stinking and nasty! Next up label boss Kasra joins forces with the young Austrian on another absolute belting slice of technoid drum & bass that’s been getting Critical’s Fabric sessions in all sorts of bother of late. ‘Cypher’ is pure future with the synth stabs to match and bassline to smash, showing some strong sturdy roots for possibly a few more collaborations from these two. Wait and see… | | schließen |

/ Part 1 of the Sounds Of The Innerground album comes to life here with two summer rollers from two acts who have not only DnB, but also Innerground DNA coursing through their systems.
Featuring as part of the forthcoming FABRICLIVE compilation, the ASide houses DnB king, Calibre’s remix of DJ Marky & S.P.Y.’s 2012 smash, Yellow Shoes. The track has a simple, yet charismatic sound that is altogether Calibre with clever use of the samples to make something new, but still true to the original.
USA’s Submorphics wraps things up on the BSide with “Summer Soul”, a track that is on heavy rotation in DJ Marky’s record box at the moment. This aptly named track is one that forces you to reminisce about all those hazy, glory days of summer. Simple floaty male vocals, big sub bass and tight percussion make it perfect for the club, car, home or headphones. | | schließen |

/ Mind Vortex are back! And they’re back with a vengeance… ‘Now It’s Time/Hotbox’ was, without doubt, one of 2012’s biggest releases. Not just for Ram Records, but for the drum & bass scene at large. This duo have pulled it out the bag again and are ready to dent 2013 in the same way.
Their new release ‘Alive/Arc’ is a game of two wholly different sides. Mind Vortex showcase their enviable range of skills: perfectly executed songbased composition AND outrageously huge, speaker splintering bass bombs.
‘Alive’ is up first. Striking up with a starglazed synth and string hook that rises exponentially, we’re soon dropped into crisp guitar hooks and smooth vocals. As the synths and heated kicks rejoin the mix, it’s instant anthem time with plenty of opportunities to raise a lighter or two. As the vibrant hook gets heavier and the song develops, we find the bass becoming more textured, bursting with dynamics and true sense of sonic sentiment.
Next up, ‘Arc’: A quintessential rave hustler, it opens with rich warm rushworthy chords softly coerced you into a false sense of arm waving euphoria. This tune has such a beautiful emotioncaked intro and then BANG!: in they come with one of the most powerful payoffs we’ve heard for ages. A murder of basslines vie for your attention, ducking and diving and weaving and bobbing among each other, each one as brutish as the next. From spinemelting electrosoul to turbocharged bass shockout at the flip of a switch, it’s production techniques like this that attracted Mind Vortex to us in the first place.
This release has two stunningly different vibes from one of the most exciting partnerships in drum & bass…
With support from the likes of Andy C, Mistajam, Grooverider, Bailey, Crissy Criss, DJ Hype and Drumsound, the doors to the Mind Vortex fan club are well and truly open. And everyone’s invited! | | schließen |

/ After delivering some of 2012’s most iconic music, High Contrast returns with another superb single to get 2013 off to a cracking start. Bringing together his classic uplifting and melodic signature sound with the more progressive direction of "The Agony & The Ecstasy”, this single should be a firm favourite of fans new and old and a DJ favourite too.
First up, we have the awe-inspiring “Spectrum Analyser” with its immense intro that artfully pairs a driving, mechanical tone with bleepy 8-bit SFX. Massive euphoric builds and catchy melodies make “Spectrum Analyser” an instant crowd-pleaser with buckets of energy and plenty of interesting twists and turns to capture the imagination. With a synth hook so big that it feels like it was created in the Large Hadron Collider, this one will definitely get your particles accelerating!
Flipping over for “Some Things Never Change”, this one is full of nostalgic undertones and drifting melodies. With a vintage sound reminding you exactly why you love High Contrast so much, “Some Things Never Change” remains true to its title. Soulful vocal snatches pepper the piece and it’s full of that familiar feel-good vibe that has dominated so much of High Contrast’s work in the past. If this doesn’t warm the cockles of your heart, then we don’t know what will. | | schließen |

/ Bristol-based producer Jinx in Dub is well known for delivering the rudeboy reggae skank across multiple bass music genres, from d’n'b to dubstep, breakbeat and beyond. Here he purloins the classic Michael Rose/Black Uhuru number Party Next Door and sends it spinning into jungle mayhem on the frenetic Amen in Session, in the process creating an instant badboy anthem. On the flip, Jinx links with Kanjah’s Seek and Find track which samples Massive Attack legend Horace Andy for another rolling, rastafarian floorkiller that slides in and out of dubby drum workout territory each time it drops. Classic sounds from a producer with a serious understandingof how to make the breakbeats kick, and another absolutely essential double-header for discerning record bags from Jungle Cakes. | | schließen |

Incl. "Don’t Look Now".
/ Without doubt the heaviest Sgn:Ltd release that we can remember, Optiv & CZA deliver the goods for number 32 in the series with two downright outrageous cuts of primetime drum & bass made to make your mouth water. A huge double-header that’ll be unleashed at Shogun nights across the land, designed to test your sound systems to the max.
‘Bring It Back’ as the name suggests is all about looking back to take things forward in 2013. Based around everyone’s favourite hardcore stab you’ll need a stiff drink before you dare step to this and step you will! Militant drums, heavy under- -pinning bass and that aforementioned mid-range old-skool riff combine perfectly on this proper dance floor assault on the senses. Get on it!
They say if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it and that’s exactly the ethos Optiv & CZA have opted for here as they stay very much in the same vein for ‘Don’t Look Now’, a riotous tech-stepping affair full of bongo led breaks and the panic room stabs again that take us back to those good old vintage Renegade Hardware vibes. Absolutely slammin’! | | schließen |
